Regulatory basis
PBN training is required under EASA Part-FCL.055 for all Instrument Rating holders. Since 25 August 2020, the PBN endorsement is mandatory to exercise IR privileges on aircraft equipped to fly PBN procedures. Since 26 April 2021, every IR revalidation must include an RNP APCH.

Who needs PBN training?
Since 25 August 2020, every EASA Instrument Rating holder must have PBN privileges endorsed on their licence. Pilots issued their IR before that date without PBN must complete FCL.055 training and be assessed before further IR revalidation.
How is PBN training structured?
A short theoretical block covers the PBN concept, RNAV and RNP specifications, on-board performance monitoring and alerting, and human factors. The practical block includes at least one RNP APCH in the Full Flight Simulator, assessed against Appendix 9 criteria.
Can PBN be added during my revalidation?
Yes. The revalidation profile already includes an RNP APCH since April 2021. If you need the initial FCL.055 endorsement rather than a revalidation, we add a dedicated theoretical block and a second RNP APCH scenario during the same visit.
